Although the life of the wheat bag for pain relief is more than 10 years, it is always advisable to give it some care and maintenance so that it lasts as long as possible and in the best condition. They are simple and easy to do, but we must take them into account in order to preserve the properties and benefits that our microwave heating pad brings to our health.
How can we preserve the seeds in the microwavable heat and cold pack so that they last longer?
The first thing we need to know is that the microwave heat pads are filled with wheat seeds and lavender flowers. All these products are for animal and human consumption and therefore the treatments they have undergone allow them to be stored for a limited time without being consumed, but in principle, they do not last forever.
We say in principle because, what can make these foods deteriorate is that they are attacked by tiny beetles that feed on wheat. It is very easy and simple to avoid this and always in a natural way. All you have to do is use the heat and cold pack in the microwave frequently. As soon as you have heated it 10 times, you can be sure that you will never see any seed predators again.
It is also very easy to get if you keep it in the freezer for 15 days or more. This is more common in the summer months than, if you don’t use the wheat bag for pain relief, you can keep it in the freezer until your next use, or take advantage of having it refrigerated and refresh yourself with the heat and cold pack microwavable.
Finally, it is interesting to keep the original box to store the wheat bag for pain relief, because it is made of breathable cardboard, we recommend keeping it inside the box in a dry place. Under no circumstances should the microwave heat pads be stored inside plastic bags (except when in the fridge or freezer).
How often should the microwave heat pad be used?
If it is for health and wellbeing reasons, you can use it several times a day in complete safety and enjoy each time you use it. However, if the question is about conservation, following the guidelines we have left in the previous question, you may have already clarified the doubt.
In any case, the important thing is that when the microwave wheat bag is new, it is used in the microwave frequently up to its first 10 uses because, the wheat and lavender we use is for human and animal consumption and there may be some form of resistance left, as the products used to treat it after harvesting are quite harmless.
This is something you should not worry about at all. Just take this information to learn a little more about conservation, but don’t think it’s going to be too much work to keep your heat and cold pack microwavable in good condition. It is a natural remedy that is the most effective there is and very easy to use and maintain.
All these conservation steps can be skipped if you constantly use the wheat bag for pain relief, either to warm up your hands, feet, to treat muscle aches, menstruation pains, neck pain, back pain, blepharitis, dry eyes, children’s cramps, and a long etcetera.
How to rehydrate the seeds of the heating pad for microwave so that the heat lasts longer?
When you’ve been using the heat and cold pack microwavable for a while, you may notice that it takes longer to warm up, that it doesn’t get as hot as the first few times, or that the heat lasts less time. This is because the seed, however little it is, retains a minimum amount of moisture that, with use, is lost, and it is precisely this moisture that causes the heat to be retained longer, to reach higher temperatures and to heat up faster.
To use the heat pack again as the first time, we recommend every 10 uses or every 6 months, spray very lightly with a spray or splash a few drops of water by hand on the wheat bag microwavable with lavender and heat it, so the seeds will rehydrate and it will look like we have a new microwave heat pad. It is important not to do this continuously, as excess moisture can damage our microwave heat and cold pack.
Steps to rehydrate wheat bag seeds for pain relief
Step 1: Fill half a glass of water and place it on a clean plate
Step 2: Place the heating pad for microwave on the same plate as the glass of water
Step 3: Surround the glass of water with the microwave heat pad on top of the plate
Step 4: Put the plate with the wheat bag for pain relief and the glass in the microwave and heat it up for 1 minute
This will depend on the heat pack model we are using. The important thing is what we have described in the previous question, that the seeds keep a minimum of humidity so that it maintains more heat without spoiling the grain. If the wheat bag for pain relief model we have is too big, we will spray or splash a few drops of water over it every 6 months.
If the model is a medium or small size we can do the following every 10 uses:
- Put a half-full glass of water in the center of the microwave plate.
- Surround the glass with the microwave heat pad that we are going to heat.
- Heat in the microwave the time that corresponds to each model.
Can we wash the wheat bag for pain relief in the washing machine to keep it clean?
Of course you can, but only the outer cover can be washed. All heat packs, except the mittens, have a removable cover so that it can be removed and washed whenever needed.
As they are made of 100% cotton fabric, they should be treated as such and washed at 20ºC or 40ºC. Keep in mind that bright colours can fade a little the first time, so it is advisable to wash it with dark-coloured clothes or simply wash it by hand with a few drops of detergent and cold water.
